Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed midfielder Javier Macherano want to leave the English Premier League club.

Throughout the middle of this year players 26th-year-old Argentine was linked with the Italian club, Inter Milan to join former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

And upon his return from vacation after the strengthening of national teams of Argentina in the World Cup, Mascherano told Hodgson he wants to move clubs.

"He wants to leave the club, he proclaims it with the obvious. According to me he wanted to move from one year ago," says Hodgson.

"He wants to go now but still bound by contract, and I expect him to honor that contract. I wanted him to remain a Liverpool player until the club decided to accept an offer to buy another club."

When he was still on vacation, Hodgson repeatedly tried to contact the players by phone but could only leave messages on the answering machine to say he really wanted to meet face upon his return to Liverpool for her phone call was never responded.
